Soup-er Sisters Re-cap!

We had an amazing turn out at the Additional Relief Society Meeting on October 20th. I am so grateful for all the Sisters that brought food. We surprised the Sisters who attended with a lesson about Visiting Teaching from Chapter 7 of Daughters of our Kingdom. We were so grateful that all of you were such good sports and participated.

Angela Moore set up a photo booth for us to document our night. We had such a great time acting silly for the camera!

If you would like you can read Daughters of our Kingdom online. http://lds.org/relief-society/daughters-in-my-kingdom/manual/chapter-7?lang=eng&fb_source=message

Many thanks to all those who helped and participated!!

Under the Hood- Recap

Crystal Miller gave us an amazing lesson on how to do routine maintenance on our vehicles. For instance you need to tug on your alternator belt every two months. If it's loose at all then it needs to be tightened or it needs to be replaced. Also you need to clean your battery connections every six months. You can do with coke or with baking soda and water. Make sure you wear gloves when your cleaning your battery terminals. You don't want to get battery acid on your hands. We all learned so much and we are so grateful to Crystal Miller for providing us with such an excellent lesson!!

Family Fun in the Sun!

We had such a great time at the Fountain Creek Park tonight. Thank you to everyone who brought food. It was all delicious!!! I would especially would like to thank Melissa Patterson for teaching all about how to keep our children engaged and learning this summer. I appreciate all the hard work she put into her lesson. I believe the kids had a blast as well. My own two kids came home and crashed. A obvious sign that they played hard. =)

That Ye Might Believe That Jesus Is The Christ"
Read…

John 1:1-14 (use the Joseph Smith Translation)

http://lds.org/scriptures/nt/john/1.1-14?lang=eng#primary

What can we learn about Jesus Christ?

John 20:31 (Note the “the Word” John 1:1, 14 refers to the Savior.)

http://lds.org/scriptures/nt/john/20.31?lang=eng#30

He “was in the beginning” with God the Father (John 1:1–2). Note that the Savior’s mission began in the premortal world, long before he was born in Bethlehem.

He is God (John 1:1). Explain that when we speak of God, we usually refer to Heavenly Father. However, “the personage known as Jehovah in Old Testament times … is the Son, known as Jesus Christ, … who is also a God. Jesus works under the direction of the Father. … Many of the things that the scripture says were done by God were actually done by … Jesus” (Bible Dictionary, “God,” 681).

Through him the gospel was preached in the premortal world (Joseph Smith Translation, John 1:1).

He made all things (John 1:3).

He is the Only Begotten Son of God in the flesh (John 1:14; see also 1 Nephi 11:14–21). This doctrine is discussed in lesson 2.

The Apostle John said that “in [Jesus] was life” (John 1:4). He also testified that Jesus is “the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world” (John 1:9).

HOW HAS THE SAVIOR GIVEN YOU LIGHT AND LIFE?

For God So Loved the World

Dallin H. Oaks, “Love and Law,” Ensign, Nov 2009

http://lds.org/general-conference/2009/10/love-and-law?lang=eng&query=love+law+oaks

“There is no greater evidence of the infinite power and perfection of God’s love than is declared by the Apostle John: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son” (John 3:16). Another Apostle wrote that God “spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all” (Romans 8:32). Think how it must have grieved our Heavenly Father to send His Son to endure incomprehensible suffering for our sins. That is the greatest evidence of His love for each of us!”
